When a group of rebellions strike the Shinra Company, they are thrown into a race to save the world from certain destruction. They have no idea of the evil hiding in the shadows, or what he is capable of doing. And what transpires is beyond anyones imagining. Love, friendship, and sacrifice will thrust them to their very limits, as they struggle to save the world they love, and keep their memories from disappearing forever.

final fantasy vii coverWhat has not been said about Final Fantasy VII? Released in 1997, it soared to staggering heights in sales, and was called "The greatest game ever made" by many reviewers and fans alike. It is definately the most talked about Final Fantasy in the series, and redefined how the new titles would be handled. It also raised the bar to unprecidented heights for other RPG'S.
Gone was the 16 bit games of old. You now had a fully 3-d world in which your charcters journey. The addition of fmv cutscenes were something to behold, even if the ones in VII were a bit shotty, it still had never been done before. VII also started the trend of having only three active players on the battle field, rather than the four or five of previouss titles. The characters were given a great deal of depth and background stories. Each character was treated as a real person by giving them a history, a home town they were from, and a reason to be on the journey. This made for an even closer connection to them, than had previously been done. and for the first time in Final fantasy (and perhaps gaming history) people chocked on tears, as they whitnessed perhaps the most tragic moment in gaming history. final fantasy vii aeris
The musical score is some of the best done by Square, and sets the mood of each scenerio perfectly. Side quests became major factors in the series with Final Fantasy VII. Things like breeding chocobo's was inventive and fun. They lead to great treasures and items in the game. The American, and international versions added perhaps the most difficult optional bosses to hit the series to that point.
The laxing of the game rating system was apparent in VII. From Barret's consistant profanity, to the proper naming of HOLY, rather than calling it white or pearl. Even now the impact of the game is still tremendious. Fans are clammoring for a remake of this great masterpiece.
At E-3,a clip of the opening was shown with the graphics for the PS3 (view below). This only added to the desire to see the game remade. Square has confirmed there is no remake of Final Fantasy VII in the works...but that doesn't mean it won't happen.
The popularity of the game has been noted by Square, with the release of the Compilation of Final fantasy VII. This includes the games Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, and the films Advent Children, and Last Order. The fans of the game are happy with the additions overall, but they still want that remake.
