A great heir to the throne of a aged kingdom. The last great palace that houses a crystal. Other nations have lost their crystals in mindless warfare, and now they set their eyes on the last one. Treaties of peace are trying to be established, but there is little hope found within.
Just when things were begining to turn around, a band of rougue maraders appear to liberate the crystal from this future king. He must now set out to try to defend his home, people, and those he cares about the most.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be simultaniously released across the globe in 2009, on the PS3. This marks the first title in the series to do so. Versus XIII is a spin-off from Final fantasy XIII, and is the second half of the main portion of the Fabula Nova Crystallis world. But this is not just a sequal to Final Fantasy XIII. Like Agito, this is a completely different story, that unfolds in the world of XIII. It shares a great many similarities as far as mythos and such go, but that is the extent of the similarities.
The graphics are also just as beautiful in Versus as they are in Final Fantasy XIII. The use of the Crystal Tools engine is still stunning to see. Even after some hundred times of seeing the trailer, it is outstanding. The details, background, characters, everything is beyond what we know in the gaming realm.
The music is a almost complete departure from what has become well known in Final Fantasy. It is almost operetic, and haunting. There is a sense of true freeling coming from the music of the trailer, and you are just sucked right into a sea of emotions.
There has yet to be any real showing of gameplay, but if it is anything like it is in XIII, Square will surely have two masterpiece titles as far as this category goes.

It is known that Versus XIII will be action in nature, unlike XIII, and is seemingly very, very dark. The grand epics of VI, VII, and VIII are taken a few steps further with this title as well. Most critics are saying that this is truly the darkest Final Fantasy there ever has been.
With no true release date set, there is a lot of speculation going around the net that Versus will follow right after Final Fantasy XIII in 2009. Recently the new E3 listing from Square was released, and there was no sign of XIII or its sequal anywhere to be found. When this information becomes available, it will be placed right here.
