Main Character classes

dragon warrior iii character class hero
Hero The Hero can equip himself with most of the strongest armor, helmets, shields, and weapons. He can utilize magic as well, and even has a few powerful spells that the Wizard or Pilgrim cannot use.
dragon warrior iii character class soldier
Soldier The strongest member of your party the Soldier is a power house of a fighter. On the flip side, he knows no magic spells, and is rather slow to move. His attack and defense power are the best in the game. He can equip himself with most weapons and armor.
dragon warrior iii character class pilgrim
Pilgrim The Pilgrim knows many spells, but his specialty is in healing. No match for the Hero or Fighter, the Pilgrim is still a good fighter. He cannot use much armor and weaponry, but what you can equip him with is more than satisfactory.
dragon warrior iii character class wizard
Wizard The Wizard is very weak attack and defense, but his knowledge of fighting spells more than makes up for it. The Wizard is very limited in terms of which weapons and armor he can be equipped with.
dragon warrior iii character class fighter
Fighter Not quite the power house as the soldier, the fighter is still descent. He is cheaper to get armor and weapons, since he has a limited amount to equip. He is much more agile than the Soldier, and gains exp faster. The Fighter does not know any magic.
dragon warrior iii character class merchant
Merchant The Merchant is excellent at finding gold and items after you defeat an enemy. He can also appraise a weapon or item instantly. He has average strength, poor attack power, and no knowledge of magic. A merchant is needed to start up the New Town, but once this is accomplished, there is really no use for one in your party.
dragon warrior iii character class goof off
Goof-Off The Goof-Off should only be brought along when your party is very strong. They are very weak fighters, and cannot be equipped with most weapons or armor. They also have no magical spells at their disposal. They are to be brought along for fun, or to turn into a Sage. The Goof-Off is the only class that you can turn into a Sage without the Book of Satori. You just have to wait until they are at level 20.
dragon warrior iii character class sage
Sage The Sage can cast both Pilgrim and Wizard spells, however no person may start as a Sage. You have to find the Book of Satori, which is located in the tower of Garunda north of Dhama, to turn a member into a Sage after they are at level 20. When you are stronger in the game you can bring along a Goof-Off and turn them into a Sage at level 20 without the Book of Satori.
