Elements are the root of battles in Chrono Cross. Without these elements there really could be no fighting, well outside of the usual boring trade of blows. Most all elements can be used by anyone in the party. That said, there are certain elements, as well as all summons that can only be used if the element is the same as the characters affiliation. These elements can range from attacks to healing items. Though they are good enough on their own, they become more powerful if the element and user have the same affiliation. That said, you should not limit, say a white aligned character, with only white elements. You need a wide range of different colors to get through the game. Below is the different types of elements, their level (Lv), the range they can be allocated on the grid (Rng), effects, who can use them, whether or not they are consumable (Cnsm), as well as their cost to purchase. Try to get all of them. The more elements you have for your party, the better off you will be.
